ROSH HASHANAH GREETING

Shanah Tovah,

As the sun sets this evening, the Jewish world will celebrate another New Year. Globally, Jews will recognize the beauty and wonder that was created 5775 years ago. This evening will also mark a time for Jews to reflect on their journeys, giving an opportunity for growth.

The entire Jewish world can seem vast and complex, but for us in Yorktown, we strive to simplify things. Community and connection through a Jewish lens are our main goals. While we participate in age old rituals, like dipping apples and honey, at Beth Am, we want you to know that you are not alone. While you bless your round challah, there are other Jews in the towns of Yorktown, Somers, Cortlandt, Croton and Katonah that are doing that same thing. You are part of a local welcoming community that cares about you and celebrates with you.

In closing, I want to say, “Thank you.” Thank you for choosing to formally affiliate with Temple Beth Am. It is because of your commitment that we can provide quality programming, like our Youth Program and our Adult Movie Series. It is because you have taken the extra step by formally connecting with Beth Am, that we are able to offer fabulous services like Welcoming Shabbat and Family Shabbat for the entire community. It is because of your engagement, that we can continue to secure a Jewish future for our local towns. Thank you for your commitment to the continuity of not only your family, but the future Jewish families to come to this area.

May you have sweet, happy, and healthy New Year.

Rabbi Robbie Weiner
