An overview of Seventh Grade

5:45-6:15 Tefilah with Cantor Jamie
6:15-6:40 Table Talk Time--Pizza and meaningful Jewish conversations
6:40-7:30 Class time-- 3-5 week classes with our seventh grade teachers (Brina Gartner, Max TA and Jill Wilbur)

This year's subjects:
  • B'nei Mitzvah:  What's it all about?
  • Mitzvah project planning
  • Holocaust studies
  • Founding of the state of Israel
  • Ethical dilemmas for seventh graders
  • End of the year fun in the kitchen

Seventh graders have a service attendance requirement to help them prepare for their b'nei mitzvah services. All seventh graders are expected to attend 7 Friday night or Saturday morning Shabbat services during the school year.  Service attendance can help you complete your thirteen mitzvot.  Please be sure to log your dates!
The Chai School year consists of the following:
  • 5 sessions of elective classes
    • Students can choose between two classes for each session.  
    • One session takes place 5:30-6:30 and one from 6:30-7:30.
    • students are invited to attend one or both classes for each session
    • Sign up will take place on the first day of school, and we will send schedules home.Watch the monthly teen scene for monthly schedule reminders.
  • Whole school celebrations and events
    • The following days are Whole School days:  Sept. 15, Oct. 20,Jan. 5, Feb. 9, March 9, March 30, April 6
    • All whole school days take place from 6:30-7:30 only.  There will be no 5:30-6:30 Chai School on these days.
  • Youth Celebration and Confirmation preparation at the end of the year
All Madrichim should have received their assignments.  Contact Cantor Jamie ASAP  if you do not have or do not understand your schedule. 

If you are going to be absent and would like to sub on an opposite team day, please let Cantor Jamie know in advance.
