As we all know, raising Jewish children in a secular world can often be a challenge. In attempting to impart our Judaism to them, we send them to Religious School, celebrate holidays in our homes, and strive to create meaningful Jewish traditions for our families. We enlist our own parents to help share our family history and values.
And yet, we are always competing with the world around us--with sports schedules, homework, busy kids and busy parents. We are surrounded by a secular Christian culture that shapes the lives and schedules of our families. Often, we are battling our own sense of an incomplete Jewish education.
Where can we turn as parents to find help in creating the positive sense of Jewish identity that we want our children to develop? Certainly, Temple Beth Am is an important part of the equation. Religious School, Shabbat services and BAFTY are important pieces of the puzzle.
There is another place that you can send your child to help foster a life-long love of Judaism, strong Jewish identity and connection to Jewish community...URJ camps, Israel trips and Mitzvah Corps service programs. Camp is amazing! Kids have incredible fun, make life long Jewish friends and encounter powerful and life-changing Jewish learning and community. Absolutely nothing can rival the power of camp to make your child love being Jewish.
On November 19-22 Temple Beth Am will be having a camp weekend. Visitors from Einser, Crane Lake, 6 Points Sci-Tech Academy and Kutz will be visiting Religious School. The URJ has programs for children and teens of all ages! We will also have a wonderful camp themed Shabbat hosted by BAFTY and Religious School.
More details are in the RS weekly news and will be available shortly on the website. Please join us and consider giving your child the gift of Camp, Israel or Mitzvah Corps!
